Rules for Investigating
1. Never trespass on private property. This is true for
private residences and always be careful around vandalized
cemeteries that are closed at night. many of these places
are posted, so always get permission first.
2. Never go alone, forget about the chances of being
murdered, abducted or getting lost. it is always a good idea
to take someone on an investigation with you. Another
person, or preferably more than one, will most likely see
something that you may not. it is always good to have
independent corroboration of a site.
3. Keep your perceptions clear if you are going on a long,
or overnight investigation. To bring along something to eat
and drink. try to avoid anything that might have a strong
odor or could impair your senses like alcohol. You will to
avoid smoking as this will interfere with your sense of
smell and your photography.
4. Let someone know where you are going it is common sense.
5. Keep your perception clear prior to the investigation.
6. Arrive with skepticism. Always know what to look for and
remember to try and prove that the place is not haunted
first.
7. Make sure that you bring along with you the items that
you need to properly conduct your investigation. make sure
you know how to use your equipment properly and always try
to find a natural source for your EMF readings before
assuming that the detected energy is paranormal.
8. Avoid publicity and the media if possible when starting a
case. you want to start the case as unobtrusively as
possible. People outside your group can add unwanted
dimensions to the case.
9 Interview the witness in depth, repeating questions if
necessary. This will also you to tell how to consistent the
experience account is and whether any of the witness may be
embellished their version of the story.
10. Make sure that the witness are comfortable with the
investigation and understand what you are doing. On a rare
occasion you will meet a witness who is lying, or has at
least imagined that what they are telling you is the truth.
Handle the situation delicately and explain to them why you
feel the haunting has a natural cause.
11. remember that just because you want to study and
research the activity (if it does prove to be genuine) the
witness might not feel so inclined. in this case, the owner
of the location must always take priority over the wishes of
the ghost hunter and help the encounter or experience and
have them explain their feelings at that time.
12. try some field experiments to reconstruct the events.
let the witness walk with you step-by step through the
encounter or experience and have them explain their feelings
at the time.
13. Check with experts outside the paranormal field, like a
plumber, for explanation of water pipes, an architect about
the structure of the building, an electrician for the lights
turning off and on.
14. remember to write down everything that occurs as soon as
you can. no matter how small or insignificant it may seem at
that time.
15. If you should make public the information that you
discover be sure that you have the permission of the owners.
Be careful on what you say and how you state things. |
